Breast enlargement
Implants made from foreign material such as “cohesive’ silicone gel are generally used for breast enlargement. There are also several different implant shapes available: Round with a high profile or low profile and anatomical form. The implant can be placed in front of the muscle for patients with pendulous (hanging) breasts who do not desire additional firming, or behind the breast in patients with non-pendulous breasts or little tissue. A relatively small incision is made into the skin in the armpit or the area beneath the breast. Implants that are not problematic, i.e. those that remain soft, do not need to be replaced after ten years. A firming effect can also be obtained with implants. However, if the breast sags too much, surgical firming is required. There are currently several different implant shapes available depending on the wishes of the patient (high profile, low profile and anatomical form).
Breast firming Breasts that are too pendulous cannot be corrected through implantation and must undergo a firming procedure.
This procedure involves removing excess skin and fixing the breast onto the breast muscle, resulting in a firmer form. The scars are located around the nipples, vertically and on the lower edge of the areola towards the area beneath the breast. The breast firming procedure involves the same technology as the breast reduction, and can be combined with an implant procedure. Implants performed in connection with a breast firming procedure are placed under the muscle.
What happens after the operation
After the surgery, you will receive adhesive bandages that can be removed after two weeks. The sutures will heal on their own. The patient must wear a support bra for 4 weeks. During the first week, this bra must be worn both at night and during the day, and then only during the day for the next three weeks.
Results
The goal of all breast corrections is to improve the shape, size and firmness of the breast and to leave behind only inconspicuous scars. Asymmetries can be corrected by using implants of different sizes.
Not a risk-free operation
The new silicone implants are made of leak-proof cohesive gel.
After the operation, the patient may experience temporary loss of sensation in the nipple area.
Important notes for before and after the operation
- During the weeks preceding and following the operation, avoid medications such as Aspirin, Aspro, Thomapyrin, Dolomo, etc.
- Do not eat or drink anything for at least six hours prior to the operation
- Avoid heavy lifting and sports or athletic activities such as tennis or swimming that place stress on the breast muscles for four weeks prior to the operation.
The operation takes place under general anaesthesia at the Vienna Private Clinic, 1090 Wien, Pelikangasse 15.
