Treatment options
The Vegas Laser can treat all types of vascular deformations, unwanted blood vessels in the face (facial erythrosis), hemangioma (strawberry spots) and port-wine stains as well as spider veins and pigment spotting. Skin changes (such as age spots, sun spots, cafe au lait spots or tattoos) do not always require surgical removal. Instead, they can also be treated using this method.
The treatment does not leave behind any scars, and it contributes to significantly younger-looking skin. If spider veins are combined with varicose veins, the patient should schedule an examination of the deeper vascular system, as the spider veins may reoccur. Moderately sized blood vessels can be treated using a combination of laser treatment and sclerotherapy.
VersaPulse
The first step in treating veins and blood vessels is to disinfect the skin. Next, the doctor applies a targeted laser to the area to be treated. The laser is connected with a computer that defines exactly how much energy is needed and when. The most recent development in the laser sector involves using a variable pulse with a wavelength of 532 nanometers.
The tool is cooled to a temperature of four to six degrees Celsius, so that sufficient levels of energy can be used for a longer period of time. The vessels at various depths draw or adhere together without damaging the skin. The laser only works where it is needed; the surrounding tissue remains unaffected. The special wavelength of the laser and the cooling of the skin help avoid the release of energy in the upper layers of the skin, which would compromise the results of the treatment.
For pigment spotting, a wavelength of 755 nanometers (Alexandrite) is used.
For tattoo removal, 1,064 nm (Nd:YAG); and for color tattoos, 532 nm. The advantage of the VersaPulse dye laser is that several wavelengths are available in one device, making its range of application greater than that of other laser systems. The average duration of treatment is between 2 and 10 minutes.
Laser technology can improve
- Hemangioma (strawberry spots)
- Facial erythrosis
- Teleangiectasis (expanded vessels) ,
- Naevus flammeus (port-wine stains),
- Spider veins ,
- Sun spots and age spots
- Tattoos
Results
Depending on their symptoms, different patients require different numbers of treatments. Small vascular deformations, for example, often disappear after one session. Larger blood vessels often only contract in diameter after one session, and additional sessions are required. Pigment spotting, age spots and tattoos, once removed with VersaPulse, are usually never visible again.
Temporary swelling at the treated area is not uncommon, and usually subsides after a short time. Patients may resume occupational and private obligations without impairment immediately after treatment.
Important to note before and after treatment
– Patients with dark skin or a strong sun tan should avoid laser treatment as it may result in pigment discoloration.
- Post-treatment, place cool compresses or a special ointment on the treated area for one or two days.
