What is the procedure for firming thighs and buttocks
Before surgery, the planned incision is drawn on the skin.
The doctor removes skin and fat from the inner thigh and buttocks area. The firming can be performed on the inside or the back of the thigh (including the buttocks) or on both at the same time.
If the is problem area is restricted on the upper third, the skin- and fat-removal operation takes place in semi-circular area. A scar will appear in the groin area towards the knee. No scar will appear on the inner thigh.
If the overstretched skin extends across the entire inner thigh area to the knee, an additional vertical skin and fat removal procedure must be performed. The scar will then run in the groin area and extend over the inner thigh until just above the knee. This scar, which is more or less visible, will fade over time.
Results
ResultsThe operation takes place under full anesthesia and lasts approximately six hours for both sides.
- The patient must remain in the hospital for two to three days. On the day after the operation the patient may leave the bed as long as (s)he is accompanied. Any motion which pulls on the sutures must be avoided. Stretching and bending too strongly can compromise healing. After the hospital stay, the patient is to assume the standing position over the seated position whenever possible.
The patient must wear a control girdle with legs for four weeks following the operation. Avoid athletic activities for 4 weeks.
Not a risk-free operation
Although the greatest of care is taken, complications may occur in some cases during or after surgery:
Persistant long-term pain and tension,Swelling of the operated area due to lymph blockage resulting from
- Impaired circulation and healing in at the edge of the wounds
- Impaired scarring
- Infection of the wounds
- Bleeding
- Opening of wounds caused by movement or physical exertion performed too soon or too vigorously
- In rare cases, slight asymmetry
This can be corrected under local anaesthesia during an outpatient visit without the need for an additional operation.
