What is the procedure for firming upper arms
Before surgery, the exact incision planned is drawn on the skin while the patient is standing. A semi-circular incision in the underarm or a long, spindle-shaped incision is made from the underarm to the elbow, tightening the skin. The muscles are tightened as well, giving the arm an athletic appearance. The resulting scars, which is more or less visible, will fade over time.
The operation takes place under local anaesthesia and lasts approximately 3 hours. After the operation, compression bandages are worn on the arms for two days. The bangages can be removed after fourteen days. The sutures will heal on their own. Any swelling will go away after four weeks. The firming operation takes place on both sides at the same time.

Any motion which pulls on the sutures must be avoided. Stretching and bending too vigourously can compromise healing. Avoid athletic activities for 4 weeks. The final results are visible after several months. |
Not a risk-free operation
although the greatest of care is taken, complications may arise in some cases during or after surgical operations:
- persistent and long-term pain and tension
- swelling in the operated area caused by lymph blockage as a result of destroyes vein and lymph channel tissue
- impaired circulation and healing at the edges of the wounds
- impaired scar formation
- infected wounds
- bleeding
- opening of the edges of the wounds caused by movement or physical exertion performed too vigorously or too soon
- in rare cases, slight asymmetry
this can be corrected in an additional, minor outpatient procedure under local anaesthesia
Important notes for before and after the operation
- Avoid certain medications that cause thinning of the blood (e.g. Aspirin, Aspro, ThromboASS, Thomapyrin, Marcumar etc.) one week before and after the operation.
- Do not eat anything for at least six hours prior to the operation
